Josephine V. Roque grew up in Angeles City, Pampanga nearby Clark Air Base. She is the recipient of the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, Ateneo Art Awards – Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prize in Art Criticism and the Doreen Gamboa Fernandez Food Writing Award. Her first book, “How to Ride a Train to Ulaanbaatar and Other Essays,” was published by Penguin Random House SEA. The book was a finalist for the National Artist Cirilo F. Bautista Award for the Best First Book in the Humanities. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from De La Salle University Manila.
